'Table for One' explores the psychological landscape of eating alone. I focus on women in this series, because in my mind, a man eating alone in a restaurant is nothing unusual, be it a businessman on his travels whose frequent solo meal is at the very least ‘deserved’ - he is quite literally entitled to it, or a workman in a greasy spoon, whose hearty fortifying is ‘justified’ in lieu of the physical demands ahead. For a woman to eat out alone, she must defy the judgement of the staff, the other diners, and the voice of her self-consciousness.

The six paintings are oil on wood, and vary in size.
