'Leopard-print IS a neutral!'
Oil on wood. 61 x 85cm
A self-portrait: I am one of those original leopard-print lovers. I remember the first time I saw leopard-print, on an elderly lady’s hair-scrunchie in 1990 on the bus going to school, and it knocked me off my feet, I just thought ‘YOU CAN GET THINGS IN LEOPARD-PRINT!’ and it was a pivotal moment in my life. A revelation, a discovery, and the start of a 35-year love affair still going strong, in varying degrees of Spice Girl/Pat Butcher, but always feisty, fun and rebellious at heart. And, surprising but true, it goes with absolutely anything. Leopard-print IS a neutral!
Displayed as part of the Cista Arts 'Thresholds: Moments that Changed Everything' online exhibition from 1st to 30th July 2025.
'Lumen'
Oil on wood.61 x 40cm
A self-portrait. Painted for the ‘My Peaceful Place’ themed MOMA Machynlleth Art competition 2025. I love working to a theme, and it didn't take long for me to decide how I was interpreting 'My Peaceful Place'!
'Lumen' is about the power of thought, imagination, and belief.
Currently on display at MOMA Machynlleth, until early September 2025.

'Light of my Life'
Oil on wood. 40 x 31cm
A portrait of Liam... a portrait about love.
How love lights you up, inside and out.
It feels like that moment when the clouds part, and the sun shines on your face.
Love is the power to push away the darkness.
Fayum Mummy Self-Portrait
Oil on wood. 61 x 85cm
The Fayum Mummy portraits are naturalistic likenesses painted on wood and buried with the dead in Roman Egypt. With their strikingly modern feel, John Berger wrote that they could have been painted yesterday. Inspired by their palette and graphic style, I made this self-portrait on wood, imagining it as my own marker for the journey after death, just as the original sitters did.

'Observed'
Charcoal on paper. 48 x 60cm
Liam kindly sat very still while I observed him observing the view from my studio window. I know what I saw, but not what he saw.
